Phi Mu Alpha is a fraternal organization founded on October 6th, 1898 at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. The Zeta Psi chapter was founded at East Carolina University in 1955. Although we are a social fraternity, our roots are ground in music and we promote music on local, state, and national levels.

There are currently 17 collegiate brothers in the Zeta Psi Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha, and there have been exactly 685 men initiated at Zeta Psi since our founding. We are 1 of 11 active chapters in Province 20, which consists only of the state of North Carolina. Zeta Psi is the third oldest chapter in Province 20 and oldest chapter in Province 20 to remain active since its charter.
